About Us

Razel Solow holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Gifted) from the University of Virginia. She has taught public and private, elementary and secondary school. As a division coordinator for gifted education, she conducted extensive staff training in differentiation and developed special seminars for high ability students. Her specialty in parental advising stems from her work as president of Guiding Gifted Children, a parent resource and support group, as an Editorial Board member of Parenting for High Potential, and as Chair of the Parent/Commmunity Division of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC).

Dr. Solow has published frequently and has presented numerous workshops including topics such as giftedness, differentiation, and backward design at local and regional school divisions and at state and national conferences. For six and a half years, she wrote and edited the Guiding Gifted Children Newsletter. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Delta Kappa, the National Association for Gifted Children, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the New Jersey Association for the Gifted.

Dr. Solow is currently the Director of Research for Mary Baldwin College's "Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG)," a radical acceleration/ early college entrance program for young women who wish to begin their higher level studies well before their peers. She is conducting an in-depth, qualitative study of 15 successful PEG alumnae and examining even more deeply the lives of five women from the pool of participants. The Malone Foundation funds this grant.  Dr. Celeste Rhodes conceived of, began, and continues to consult on the 3-year study.
